Produced from 1978 to 1985
When it was released on the market it was a worldwide success.
Very bright viewfinder with red segmented LED, automatic shutter priority, aperture priority, programmed AE, manual, AE stopped down and AE flash, with the CAT system, Canon Auto Tuning. The only one in the world, at the time, that could expose at 12800 ASA
The Canon A-1 is a historic camera, as it was the first camera to introduce a program for exposure control. In addition to allowing the photographer to choose between a long or short shutter speed to freeze the scene and choosing an aperture to control the depth of field, the Canon A-1 had a microprocessor that was automatically programmed to select a compromise based on the exposure of the scene; it is now standard in all cameras.
Excellent aesthetic and mechanical conditions, the only flaw is that one of the rings on the battery compartment door is missing, but the door opens and closes well anyway.
