Canon F1 first model equipped with FD 50mm f/1.4 lens

The Canon F1 was produced from 1971 to 1976. At the time, it represented Canon's top of the range.
Canon's construction philosophy for the FD system was based on maximum simplification and rationality of use, eliminating all the superfluous controls that other manufacturers had learned to offer to entice amateur photographers.
For example, the front multifunction control that combines self-timer, stop-down metering, depth-of-field preview and mirror lockup is a true masterpiece of engineering that was the envy of many other manufacturers.

No unnecessary frills, buttons, levers. As little as possible, but organized in the best possible way.
Finding one of these cameras in excellent condition today is truly difficult. Having been a widely distributed machine, the examples available today are often in poor condition. The phenomenon of the wealthy amateur photographer, who bought professional cameras for collection was not as widespread as it is today.
