Contax G1 is a 35mm autofocus electronic rangefinder camera.
Year of production between 1994 and 96.
The Contax G1 uses the "G" mount, an electronic autofocus mount. Critics immediately accused the camera of not being a "true" (mechanical) rangefinder, as it used autofocus and electronically linked mechanisms. But the AF mechanism of the G1, and later the G2 (introduced in 1996), actually uses a dual-window system very similar to that of the older mechanical rangefinders, only in an electronic version. One advantage of the Contax G viewfinders over other rangefinder cameras is that they always show the correct view with lenses from 28mm to 90mm (zoom rangefinders), and the same goes for close-up focusing, as they also have parallax correction.
This version is the so-called green label , that is, updated to also use the lenses for the G2 (such as the 35mm planar proposed here in the kit).
Complete with shoulder strap, original body and 35mm box, the 90 comes in its own leather pouch.
Excellent condition from the electronics point of view, aesthetically lived but not worn, the 90mm has a small scratch but not deep (apparently only the anti-reflection visible in the photo) that does not seem to cause problems in photos. The viewfinder is slightly fogged (it should be cleaned internally) but easily usable.
