Leica R7 year of production start 1992
The R7, with its look inaugurated by the R4 in 1980, is the last example of a glorious lineage before the transition to autofocus models.
This is a quality machine, very well built and full-featured.
It has all the features of the R series, with the addition of a few new features:
- 4 types of exposure, including program;
- average and spot exposure metering;
- TTL flash much improved compared to the R5; with SCA 351 and SCA 551 adapters, also excellent in fill in;
- shutter speeds from 16 sec to 1/2000 sec;
- mechanical speed of 1/100 sec;
- increase in exposure meter sensitivity by 1EV;
- exposure compensation up to +/- 3EV (on the R5 only 2EV);
- interchangeable glasses;
- DX film code, for the first time on a Leica;
- power supply with 2 lithium batteries, or 4 silver oxide batteries;
- body 4mm higher in the pentaprism than other Leica R series, due to electronic insertion for the TTL flash
- shutter speed ring 2mm higher than that of the R5;
- digital indications in the viewfinder;
