Pentax Spotmatic SP500 Super Takumar 55mm f2

 The SPOTMATIC model was
 launched on the market by Asahi Optical Co. Ltd 
in 1964 and it was a success.
 Asahi expanded the range by adding many models including this SP500.

A detail of this SP-500 that not everyone knows: The camera shoots up to 1/1000sec. despite the time dial being marked only up to 500. The explanation is that when it was launched on the market the SP-500 should have been a more "economical" version of the SPII which reached 1/1000, but rather than modifying the mechanism it was only the writing on the speed dial has been eliminated.
